The purpose of this position is to drive a ten-wheel, front-end loaded garbage truck to empty dumpsters at assigned sites.

Follow assigned routes to ensure proper pickup and unload truck at dumping sites.
Maneuver safely around traffic, parked cars, confined spaces, crew members, and equipment.
Operate all necessary mechanisms to complete tasks.
Empty trash containers into trucks and ensure materials are packed securely to prevent shifting or falling.
Transport refuse to landfill, weigh vehicle, record data, and dump refuse in designated areas.
Report damaged containers or poorly maintained collection sites to supervisor.
Follow all traffic laws and safety guidelines and monitor work areas for safety.
Utilize safety equipment, monitor traffic conditions, and place cones or markers around work sites.
Report any incidents, accidents, problems, or unusual situations.
Respond to customer questions and complaints regarding refuse-related issues and report them to supervisor.
Inspect and prepare equipment daily; perform light maintenance including refueling and adding lubricants.
Secure vehicle after use.
Clean truck daily, including removal of litter and washing the exterior.
Perform refuse container maintenance such as deodorizing, painting, and repairing dumpsters using paint machine, welder, grinder, hammer, and cutting torch.
Communicate with supervisor, employees, and the public to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
Complete and process forms, reports, timecards, and other documents.
Operate a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools such as a front-end loader, dump truck, blade, tractor, forklift, pressure washer, spray applicator, paint machine, grinder, shovel, broom, mechanic tools, hand tools, and two-way radio.
Serve as a relief driver on other routes when needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience driving a large commercial vehicle, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Class B Georgia Commercial Driverβs License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
Ability to retain information related to specific pickup instructions and safely maneuver large equipment in confined spaces.
Ability to classify, categorize, prioritize, and analyze data.
Ability to exchange information and clarify details within established policies and procedures.
Ability to operate and control equipment, machinery, tools, and materials requiring complex or rapid adjustments.
Ability to utilize various reference and advisory data and perform basic math.
Ability to apply principles of rational systems and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions.
Ability to use independent judgment to adjust methods and meet objectives.
Ability to evaluate information against measurable or verifiable criteria.
Work requires light to medium physical effort, primarily involving driving. May include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20β50 lbs. Requires ability to perceive colors, depth, texture, and visual cues. Some tasks require oral communication.
Work is regularly performed in adverse conditions including dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, extreme temperatures, noise, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, and interactions with animals or irate customers.
