Summary
To pick up (receive) and deliver various parts, components, and finished products for work in the Gary SMS group facility and work on the shop floor in between driving.
The right candidate will
- Have the ability to drive tractor truck and trailer, including backing in and out of overhead doors
- Transporting rolls between shops and prepping rolls for shipment per business demands.
- Complete daily timecard correctly.
- Must possess good mechanical skills in daily operations to help out during down time
- Working closely with shop employees to ensure consistent and accurate records.
- Carefully inspecting and documenting all incoming and outgoing roll activities for accuracy.
- Working with Buyer to make sure loads are properly permitted with Indiana
- Ability to properly rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead crane.
- Conduct safety and operational checks of truck and trailer prior to first movement
- Be able to lift up to 50lbs in order to chain and tarp load
- Be capable of learning overhead crane in order to load and unload truck
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
What you will need
- Valid Class A driver's license - excellent driving record
- Mechanically inclined - willing to help on shop floor during down time
- Self-motivation to identify, analyze and independently work to find solutions to flow issues is essential.
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent
- A safety minded worker who is drug free, dependable, and able to maintain an excellent attendance record
