Truck Driver & Laborer
Town of Halifax, MAThe Town of Halifax seeks qualified candidates for the full-time position of Truck Driver & Laborer to perform routing manual work including, but not limited to, highway construction, reconstruction, maintenance, and other repair work related to Town roads, sidewalks, parking lots and other Town property. This position will be expected to work outdoors under varying weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold or inclement conditions during the duration of a storm and after storm conditions for long hours.
High school graduates preferred plus sufficient years of paid work experience in which individuals have learned good work habits or any combination of education and experience. Ability to learn job tasks through on-the-job training with the ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions while being able to perform assigned work tasks in a timely fashion without direct supervision constantly available. Experience with operating large automotive equipment preferred.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must possess a valid Massachusetts CDL Class B driver’s license with air brake endorsement, complete a driving record check, and be CORI certified (background check).
The successful candidate must reside within twenty-five (25) minutes of the Halifax Highway Department, 60 Hemlock Lane, Halifax, MA 02338.
Pay rate: $25.22 per hour to $29.76 per hour. This is a union position and is eligible for benefits.
