Description

Purpose:

Operate vehicles to transport equipment for the dealership. May instruct customers on basic equipment operating procedures. Prepare equipment for delivery to the customer or for demonstration purposes. Assemble and service all types of equipment offered for sale by the dealership. Perform basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, or senior technicians.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Transport equipment to/from customers and/or between dealer facilities
  • Responsible for safely and correctly loading and unloading cargo. This requires using DOT approved tie-down techniques with load-securing devices that are in good, working order.
  • Maintain records of pickup and deliveries and obtain necessary signatures and receipts
  • Follow rules and regulations, and maintain all required certifications in line with DOT, OSHA and company policy
  • Responsible for completing pre- and post-trip inspections and reporting any necessary repairs
  • Account for all time and distances traveled and material used in performing assigned duties
  • Need to maintain assigned trucks and related equipment in good, working condition
  • May instruct customers on basic equipment operating procedures
  • May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, equipment, facility, and inventory required to perform job responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Maintain knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Detail and wash equipment
  • May perform grounds maintenance for the store
  • May be required to assist in moving displays or equipment within the dealership
  • May operate a forklift to transport parts, equipment, and supplies for the dealership
  • Perform maintenance service work
  • Assemble and service all types of equipment, established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products, and other merchandise offered for sale by the dealership
  • Perform pre-delivery inspection on all types of equipment and other merchandise offered for sale by the dealership
  • Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
  • May perform diagnosis and repairs in the field
  • Will perform other duties as assigned

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • 1+ years semi-truck driving experience pulling a gooseneck, tilt, or utility trailer. Over-sized load hauling experience is preferred.
  • CDL License
  • Self-motivated
  • Experience working cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to lift items weighing upwards to 75 lbs. repeatedly
  • Ability to perform multiple duties as assigned
  • Basic knowledge of equipment safety procedures
  • Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment used in machinery pre-delivery and set-up processes
  • Ability to assemble machinery components and to follow manufacturers pre-delivery instructions
  • Fundamental level of knowledge of engines, hydraulics, power-trans, air-conditioning, and electrical systems as they apply to machines marketed by the Dealership
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Fork lift license preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
