Description

SUMMARY:

CDL Truck drivers pick up and haul materials and aggregates to customers and job sites while adhering to company policies and all laws pertaining to the safe operation of heavy equipment/trucks.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pick up, haul and dump aggregates to various job sites and customers as dispatched/assigned. 
  • Be proactive regarding daily schedule and communicate with dispatch appropriately. 
  • Must accurately complete and turn in all daily paperwork as necessary and required.
  • Inspect and perform general/minor maintenance and general cleaning of equipment. 
  • Communicate effectively with the shop regarding repairs and maintenance needs of equipment. 
  • Complete all training, testing and/or certifications provided and/or required by employer.
  • Assist Foreman, Operators and/or other skilled labors as may be necessary and/ or needed.
  • Communicate with equipment operators, and others, via proper hand signals and/or CB radio.
  • Communicate with the office, as needed or requested, for paperwork and/or regulatory logs.
  • Continually remain informed via checking your email and bulletin boards at the office or shop. 
  • Complete all tasks assigned by dispatch, foreman or supervisor in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain a willingness to learn, follow instructions and grow with the organization.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from the yard, shop and/or the office.
  • Always adhere to strict safety standards, guidelines, and laws.
  • Adhere and comply with mobile device hands fee laws as well as all company policies related to such.

Requirements

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 - 5 years’ experience as a CDL driver.
  • Operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Inspect and safely use all equipment pertaining to the job. 
  • Ability to move, haul and deliver products such as stone, sand and gravel.
  • Safety-minded, reliable, team player with quality communication skills. 
  • Work/drive, year-round, in varying weather conditions for extended periods of time. 
  • Respect and obey all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to safe CMV operation.
  • Knowledge of the equipment and tools used in surface mining at Pits & Quarries.
  • Ability to communicate with and assist operators when necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Continually required to sit, walk, talk and hear
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finer dexterity
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate heavy equipment/trucks.
  • Continually required to lift/push/pull/carry items less than 25 lbs.; Frequently lift/push/pull/carry items up to 25-50 lbs.; Occasionally lift/push/pull/carry items over 50 lbs. 
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl

Hours

Monday – Friday 40-hour week (+/-).
