Summary
The Truck Driver Trainer is primarily responsible for providing educational experience enabling students to learn and exhibit the safe operation of semi-trailer trucks through the use of classroom instruction, behind the wheel training and actual driving performance on the road and in the yard. This position also provides support of part-time instructors, including training and ensuring safety standards.Ā
Compensation for the Truck Driver Trainer is $48,899.20- $57,336.40 annually.
Essential Functions

1. Instruct truck driver training program courses by communicating established course objectives and syllabi to the students, developing classroom presentations, activities and assignments in keeping with course objectives, and using evaluation instruments designed to measure course objectives.
2. Train part-time instructors.
3. Coordinate with Lead Instructor to update curriculum as needed to reflect current industry practices and developments.Ā
4. Drive, inspect, and clean trucks periodically.
5. Recommend service for trucks when needed.
6. Engage in quarterly safety/curriculum meetings with Truck Driver Training Instructors and Program Coordinator.
7. Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Active Class A CDL license with acceptable driving record.
3. Pass DOT physical and drug screen.
4. 3 years of experience as a truck driver.
5. 2 years of experience as a truck driver instructor/mentor.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
7. Working knowledge of mechanical aspects of tractor/trailers.
8. Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
9. Working knowledge of adult learning methodology.
10. Ability to relate to students to assist them to increase retention and student success.
11. Ability to tailor teaching style to individual students.
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
13. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications
1. College degree in related field.
2. A passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain a passenger endorsement within 60 days of hire.
