Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The RiseBoro Home Delivered Meals (HDML)/Meals-on-Wheels program provides thousands of meals daily to various communities in Brooklyn, NY. Under the general supervision of the Associate Director and Director, Part-time, minimum of 24 hours a week with additional hours possible, and availability on call the Replacement Driver-Deliverer of HDML is responsible for the daily delivery of meals to homebound clients. The Replacement Driver-Deliverer is required to maintain delivery records and safely operate and maintain all assigned RiseBoro vehicles. Additionally, the Replacement Driver-Deliverer will assist with Kitchen Aide and custodial responsibilities custodial duties Specific duties and responsibilities include:

 

· Pack and deliver home-delivered meals for any daily assigned route based on program need; ensure the use of appropriate heating and cooling resources as appropriate

· Ensure the designated client receives the intended appropriate meal and any program material/information

· Enter accurate units per delivery in real-time via company-issued cellphone and/or maintain an accurate daily log of meals delivered per program requirements; assist in organizing meal delivery routes to minimize time and distance between delivery points

· Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure it is in good operating condition at all times by conducting daily inspections; report any operational issues or structural defects immediately to the Logistics Manager and/or program management

· Ensure any collected contributions are reported to a supervisor and properly accounted for i.e. submit contributions to the bookkeeper

· Report any difficulties encountered with meal delivery, change in client status, and/or any noticeable client concerns to coordinators and management per program protocol i.e. no-answers, client on vacation, unlocked doors, unusual client appearance or questionable interaction, hospitalization, medical episode, disorientation, etc.

· Move unpacked and stored food or supplies to designated areas as needed

· Deliver program material and information to homebound clients, not limited but including CityMeals on Wheels boxes.

· Deliver supplies and paper goods to other agency programs and congregate sites as needed

· Maintain accurate daily gasoline and mileage records; ensure all maintenance and repairs are documented via vehicle report log for submission to program management regularly

· Ensure the timely pickup and return of the delivery vehicles to the garage or the appropriate parking location daily

· Ensure proper safety precautions are practiced when driving RiseBoro vehicles at all times; report any accidents or incidents immediately per program protocol i.e. Logistics Manager, direct supervisor and police as required

· Assist with Kitchen Aide duties, i.e. prep work for senior lunches, clean up, etc.

· Assist with pick-up and delivery of congregate meals to other program sites if needed

· Drop off and pick up interoffice mail as needed

· Other related duties/program assistance as needed or assigned by program management

· Ability to walk long distances and climb stairs as needed; Ability to lift/carry up to 30lbs

· Ability to be organized with attention to detail

· Highly observant and aware of one’s environment

· Basic knowledge of and ability to understand, read, write, and speak English

· Ability to read maps and follow printed directions; strong ability to follow instructions

· Ability to manage efficiently and execute assigned tasks

· Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to communicate effectively including the use of RiseBoro’s communication tools i.e. MS Teams, email, text and calls etc.

· Basic knowledge and ability to use MS Office and other applications

· Knowledge of the Brooklyn, NY area and various communities is a plus

· Commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.)

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Some completed High School or equivalent coursework required; High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

· A valid New York State Driver’s License - Class D or C required
