Description

The Johnston County Department of Solid Waste has an immediate opening for aΒ Part-Time Solid Waste Truck Driver.Β 

*There are no benefits associated with this part time position.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Solid Waste Truck Driver position is responsible for operating solid waste roll-off trucks to transport solid waste and recyclable materials to a MSW landfill, various recycling markets, or other disposal locations. The position also performs any and all functions necessary to operate and generally maintain tandem axle trucks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Successful candidate must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license, CDL Class "A" rating with tanker endorsement; however, CDL Class "B" rating will be considered. Must be in good physical condition and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Position will work primarily on weekends, with daily work schedule depending upon need.

Desired Education and Experience

Graduation from high school is required. Ability to read and write and experience driving large and heavy trucks is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to complete Waste Screening and SWANA Landfill Operation training.
