General Summary:
The Inter-Company Haul Truck Driver will operate a tractor-trailer or quad axle dump truck delivering materials within Sunrock’s production facilities to maintain stockpiles. On occasion this position may deliver material outside of Sunrock facilities. The incumbent will be required to display a professional attitude and appearance. This position will work under direction receiving guidance with respect to general objectives. In the majority of tasks and projects assigned the incumbent will determine methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments while operating within specific policy guidelines. Good judgment and common sense are required in all duties and any other task assigned. General work hours are Monday-Friday 7am to 5pm including weekends as needed. Frequent overtime is required in this position. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) as required. This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and task to be performed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works in a safe manner while complying with all company policies and procedures.
- Hauls stock materials from the quarry to the designated plants.
- Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip of vehicle and trailer.
- Completes daily reports, including trip logs and driver logs.
- Maintains vehicle appearance and operation through cleaning when instructed.
- Performs occasional maintenance on vehicle to include greasing the fifth wheel, cleaning mirrors, and keeping the cab clutter free.
- Has knowledge of general hand signs and CB usage.
- Hauls pallets from the plants to the Butner quarry.
- Hauls blocks and equipment from plant to plant on a lowboy or flat bed.
- Operates tractor-trailer, quad axel dump truck, and a mixer truck for the concrete plant as needed.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to operate both automatic and standard transmissions as assigned.
- Possesses keen observation skills; pays attention to and remembers work related instructions, demonstrations, and procedures.
- Ability to locate information on graphs such as diagrams, maps, floor plans, tables, forms, graphs, flowcharts and instrument gauges.
- Ability to read and comprehend, in English, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; and/or six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current North Carolina Driver’s License required
- CDL Class A License with a combination vehicle endorsement preferred
- Ability to obtain valid DOT medical card required
