Description: An Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver is responsible for transporting goods across state lines and regions, often spending several days on the road. Duties include safely operating a commercial truck, adhering to DOT regulations, maintaining accurate logs, performing basic vehicle inspections, and ensuring timely delivery of freight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow and comply with applicable Federal, State, and Employer requirements to ensure safe driving practices.
- Verify freight accuracy, shipper/consignee, and safe route of travel.
- Perform safety checks, and maintain a clean and sanitized work environment with all equipment.
- Maintain proper documentation in all record-keeping formats.
- Operate all transportation equipment at an efficient level to fulfill all demands.
- Assist with general cleaning and maintenance.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner when assigned by dispatch.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment.
- Basic understanding of a semi-tractor and troubleshooting ability.
- Must be able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to communicate effectively in order to maintain high levels of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance.
