Job Summary

 

Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS) a Pacific Northern Environmental LLC division, is seeking an CDL Class A Hazmat Driver who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service and skills to our company, clients, and employees.

 

Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of five divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (Taurus), Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. In addition, we carry out projects across the United States.

 

CCS provides industrial cleaning and spill response to almost every pulp and paper mill in the Pacific Northwest. We also service major oil companies and a wide range of manufacturing and industrial clients. CCS has demonstrated its ability to complete large and complex industrial cleaning challenges on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with the most stringent industrial health & safety programs. No industrial cleaning job is too large or too small for CCS.

 

The CDL A Hazmat Driver is responsible for safely operating specialized commercial vehicles and equipment used in cleaning operations, including transporting equipment to and from the job sites and transportation to waste disposal locations. They ensure safe and efficient vehicle handling while assisting with setup, operation, and maintenance of cleaning machinery on-site. 

 

 

Education and Experience Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid Class A, Hazmat Endorsement and Tanker Endorsement. 
  • Must be able to be insured under company insurance plan.
  • Must be legally authorized to operate manual transmission commercial vehicles.
  • 2-3 years’ experience driving DOT regulated vehicles is required, experience hauling hazmat materials strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in roles involving intensive physical activity, including repetitive heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), prolonged standing, bending, climbing, and working in a demanding physical environment for extended periods of time.
  • Experience operating specialized equipment such as vacuum trucks, 80bbl, 120bbl, or other industrial cleaning machinery is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to commercial vehicle operation and industrial job sites.
  • Required to meet facial hair standards in accordance with OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard (29 CFR 1910.34).
  • Regular on-call availability is required as part of this role. This may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The CDL Class A Hazmat Driver possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:

 

  • Safely operate and maintain company vehicles as required for job duties, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies
  • Loads, unloads, and sets up vacuum hoses at job site when operating the vacuum truck.
  • Operator truck controls to engage, move, and reposition vacuum hoses as necessary when operating a vacuum truck.
  • Utilize commercial vehicles to transport equipment, materials, and industrial waste to and from job sites, transfer stations, and disposal facilities.
  • Loads, unloads, and sets up vacuum hoses at job site when operating the vacuum truck.
  • Complete DOT required pre and post trip inspections, completing any required paperwork as needed.
  • Perform routine vehicle checks such as fluid levels, tire pressure, and brake functionality; reporting any mechanical issues.
  • Operate truck in accordance with instructions received from dispatch or the supervisor each day.
  • Handle and transport non-hazardous (and hazardous, if applicable) waste in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including driver logs, inspection reports, and manifests.
  • Work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Assisting Technicians when needed with vacuuming, hydroblasting, or other job related duties.
  • Report all accidents and injuries and complete an accident report form when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:

 

  • Move about the jobsite as needed.
  • Move work related equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Operate various technological devices, including but not limited to a computer.
  • Operate machinery in compliance with all safety procedures.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend ladders stairs, scaffolding, and/or platforms.
  • Travel up to 25%, some overnight travel may be required.
  • Work in environments where there may be exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, including chemicals, fumes, hazardous substances.
  • Perform duties in an industrial environment where consistently high noise levels are present.
  • Perform tasks that may involve working in confined spaces such as tanks, tunnels, or enclosed structures, as well as at elevated heights.
  • While standard workweek typically consists of 40 or more hours, hours may vary and are not guaranteed.
