Residential Garbage Truck Driver (CDL required)

• Follows a daily assigned route collecting refuse and/or recycling, and transports to the landfill, transfer station, or recycling facility.
• Completes all required pre- and post-shift inspections and ensures equipment is clean and in proper working condition.
• Follows a complicated map; ensures all listed streets are collected and residents receive excellent customer service.
• Keeps loads within legal limits and follows all applicable laws and regulations.
• Functions as a team member and is required to work in waste or recycling programs doing a wide variety of activities.
• Uses a two-way radio and ensures open and complete communication occurs throughout the day to keep team members and lead operators apprised of progress, problems, and other issues.
• Recommends service improvements to provide quality, seamless customer service.

One year of truck driving experience, with at least six (6) months experience in a job which requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a minimum of six (6) months as a seasonal driver with Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District. Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with valid DOT Medical Card at the time of hire. Pay is calculated based on years of experience.

This position requires a full range of motion in the shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, legs, and feet. Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 100 pounds as necessary to ensure route is complete and free of debris. Must exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Must drive and sit for extended periods while exposed to traffic hazards, inclement weather, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and potentially unsanitary conditions; the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory. Must climb into and out of equipment on a regular basis.
