Biosolids Truck Driver

Purpose Of Position
- Transport biosolids to and from wastewater treatment plants and City landfill. To operate processes of a wastewater biosolids facility and a wastewater treatment facility. Ensure that biosolids and water quality standards meet State and Federal requirements before disposal or discharge.
Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Drive biosolids truck and trailer.
- Work with electrical equipment and hazardous materials.
- Read, interpret, and apply federal and state regulations required by the State of Texas Wastewater Discharge Permit.
- Monitor charts, meters, recorders, and equipment, and adjust accordingly.
- Oversee truck and trailer maintenance.
- Coordinate maintenance items with Vehicle Services.
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment as required by the manufacturer.
- Maintain maintenance records.
- Maintain a clean truck and trailer.
- Troubleshoot biosolids and wastewater processes and act accordingly.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with sludge press operations.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to operate a five-axle combination truck and dump trailer hauling materials.
- Must be familiar with hand tools, operate a loader, backhoe, and forklift to load materials on trucks.
- Communicate effectively with management, employees, and the general public.
- Must be able to work in extremes of temperature; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently.
- Must be available for possible on-call duty, which may work after hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have a telephone and reliable transportation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED required; two (2) years of job-related experience preferred but not required.
Must have a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s license with an air brake certification and have a good driving record. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as assigned.

The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.
